For the past few months, the Ninja SLUSHi Frozen Drink Machine has been all the rage on social media. Now that summer is in full swing, it’s a must-have in many backyards and kitchens. Being a huge fan of iced drinks—especially during the summer season—I decided to put this machine to the test to see if it’s really worth it. Here are my impressions, along with the pros and cons.

Testing the Ninja SLUSHi Frozen Drink Machine

First of all, like many products from the Ninja brand, the machine stands out for its simple and compact design, which fits well on a kitchen counter alongside other appliances from the same brand.

The first recipe I tried to put the new appliance to the test was a frosé: a mix of rosé wine, lemonade, and fruit juice. The prep took about 5 minutes, then I started the “Alcoholic Slush” cycle and waited roughly 35 minutes. Honestly, I couldn’t lie even if I wanted to—it was absolutely delicious!

Next, I tested an iced coffee with Cremaglace and espresso liqueur. A grown-up version of a well-known brand’s iced cappuccino! Once again, I had trouble not gulping down the entire batch. This is definitely a recipe that will make it into my summer favourites.

Ninja SLUSHi Frozen Drink Machine Pros

  • It can make a convenience-store-style slushie in a maximum of 60 minutes (depending on volume and ingredients)

  • It's very easy to use and clean (Bonus points: parts are even dishwasher-safe!)

  • It can handle a variety of recipes: milkshakes, daiquiris, iced coffees, sodas, juices, wine, sangria, etc.

  • Everything comes out with the perfect texture—much better than the “slush” option most blenders offer

  • It makes some noise, but honestly, I don’t find it bothersome at all!

  • It can keep frozen drinks for up to 12 hours

Ninja SLUSHi Frozen Drink Machine Cons

  • It's quite heavy and not well-suited for small kitchen spaces

  • Even with a capacity of over 2.5 L, it runs out quickly if four people are enjoying it on a hot day

  • The price might cool you down (pun intended!), but it’s often on sale in major stores

My Impressions of the Ninja SLUSHi Frozen Drink Machine

For an evening with several guests, I recommend preparing a good amount of mixture in advance so you can quickly refill the machine. It’s also essential to read the instructions carefully regarding liquid quantities—a certain amount of sugar is necessary to lower the freezing point and achieve the desired texture.

The machine “talks” to you, and you need to listen! If your mix doesn’t have enough sugar, it will warn you that the temperature is too low. If there’s too much alcohol, it will signal that the temperature is too high.

Personally, I love Ninja products. Having already tested one of the brand's air fryers, the oh-so-popular CREAMi, and a blender, I can say the SLUSHi is on the same level in terms of quality. It’s a reliable, efficient appliance that’s perfect for summer!

Even if it might seem like a big expense at the time of purchase, I truly believe that if you’re a fan of slush or iced drinks, this machine is worth it. Its versatility is impressive: whether for alcoholic cocktails, fruit juices, iced coffees, or even milkshakes, the Ninja SLUSHi adapts to all cravings. It’s an appliance that will please both kids and adults alike.

And let’s be honest: the handle, just like the big convenience store slush machines, adds a touch of nostalgia and fun. It really feels like you’re serving yourself a festive drink—only in the comfort of your own home or backyard. A true little summer luxury, right at your fingertips!
