They’re butter-soft and actually keep things cool down there.
I’ve been dealing with chafing on my inner thighs since I was a teen. It’s made dresses and skirts uncomfortable, and sometimes even painful, to wear in the summer months. The friction can cause swelling, welts, and in extreme cases, blisters. I’ve tried balms, powders, and even patches, but the thing that has always worked best for me is wearing a pair of shorts under dresses and skirts.
I typically opt for sporty bike shorts, which have worked well enough, but tend to roll down throughout the day and can be too hot. While they’re ok for casual days, let’s face it, they’re not the nicest to wear under fancier outfits for events. That’s why when I came across the Toronto-based brand Thigh Society and their collection of anti-chafing shorts, I knew I had to try a pair of their cooling shorts.
Good news, they did not disappoint.
My first impressions of the Thigh Society Cooling Slip Shorts
I ordered two pairs, one in classic black and the other in the shade Almond (the beige tone that matched my skin best), as I knew these were the colours I’d wear the most. Right out of the packaging, I noticed how lightweight and silky they felt. The waistband on the Thigh Society Cooling Slip Short isn’t bulky, but it feels secure. I immediately appreciated the reinforced gusset and knew that these would stand the test of wear and time.
They’re designed to be worn on their own, with nothing underneath, but to stay true to how I like to wear the shorts, I slipped them over a pair of underwear, threw a dress on and went about my day. The biggest thing I noticed was that I didn’t have to fiddle with them throughout the day at all. They didn’t roll up on my legs, and I only had to adjust the waistband once, even with a lot of movement and walking.
Made of a blend of Sensil, Breeze nylon, elastine, and cotton, they’re equal parts airy and breathable. They promise to cool you up to one degree, and things definitely felt breezy down there. I never felt sweaty or moist, which made for a much more comfortable wear, even when busting a few moves on the dancefloor at a wedding.
How they’ve stood up through the summer

I wear skirts and dresses two to three times a week, so I have really put Thigh Society’s Cooling Slip Shorts to the test. Not only are they super easy to wash (cold water, dry on a low tumble), but they also come out of the dryer feeling like they did when I first received them. I’ve worn them under sundresses, skirts, skorts, and even a bridesmaid dress. They’re thin, almost seamless (I couldn’t even see a line from them under a satin gown), and very comfortable to move in. I loved them so much, I immediately picked up another pair so I’d always have a clean pair ready to wear in my outfit rotation.
