These Blue Light-Blocking Glasses Keep My Eyes Protected From Screens

I spend a lot of time staring at screens, whether it’s writing for work, scrolling through social media on my phone, or unwinding by playing games on my iPad. Unfortunately, my eyes pay the price. I experience general strain, blurred vision, dry eyes, and, in some cases, even headaches. That’s why blue light-blocking glasses have become a workday essential for me.

I’ve had the same pair since 2020, so now felt like the right time for an update. Inspired by some of the fashion influencers I follow, I wanted to try a trendier oval frame. After a bit of surfing and scrolling, I found a pair from Firmoo on Amazon Canada, and I’ve really been loving them.

Let’s get into the details.

Key Specs:

Frame Colours: Tortoiseshell, Green, Brown

Lens Details: UV400 Protection, Blue Light Protection

Magnification: 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0

Case: Hardshell, Soft Case

My experience using the Firmoo Oval Blue Light-Blocking Glasses

My 2020 blue light-blocking glasses had a large, round transparent pink plastic frame, so I knew I wanted something a little different when I was shopping for a new pair. Since small oval frames are having a moment, I thought I’d give them a go.

Upon opening the glasses, I was surprised at how sturdy they felt while also being incredibly lightweight. I also appreciated that the frames are slightly wider, which works with my facial proportions.

They also come with silicone attachments that slide onto the end of the arms. These keep my glasses in place and stop them from sliding down my nose, which was a big problem with my previous pair. The first time I wore them for a full day, I couldn’t believe how well they stayed in place. I hardly had to readjust them.

After a full day of wearing them, I didn’t experience any eye strain, dry, itchy eyes, or a headache, which was a relief. I’m happy to report that this has been the case with regular daily wear. I also notice that on days when I wear them, it’s way easier for me to fall asleep at night.

Drawbacks of the Firmoo Oval Blue Light-Blocking Glasses

I love the Firmoo Oval Blue Light-Blocking Glasses, but two small issues might hold you back from buying them.

The first is glare. As they’re designed to block blue light, you can expect a bit of a tint. It’s not as noticeable as I’ve seen from other brands, and although you can faintly see a difference in colours when you’re wearing the glasses, and in photographs, your eyes readjust pretty fast. It’s not noticeable after about half an hour of wearing them. All in all, not a major drawback, but something to be aware of.

The second is the inability to add a prescription. If you struggle with your vision and wear glasses for purposes outside of blue light blocking, you may want to turn to a brand that allows this option.

My final thoughts on the Firmoo Oval Blue Light-Blocking Glasses

I think the Firmoo Oval Blue Light-Blocking Glasses are a great option for those new to blue light glasses and are looking for something affordable and comfortable. I like that I can experiment with a trendy frame or style without overspending, and that I get the added peace of mind for my eye health. They feel durable, and I’m pretty sure they’ll last me years. Highly recommend!
