It’s adjustable, comfortable, and much more secure than his old one.
I have a 16-pound Bichon Frise who loves walking around the neighbourhood, and I’ve been using a harness for our walks since he was a puppy. I like that they’re more secure than a collar and give me more control when we’re out and about. On the rare occasion he gets excited over a new friend on a walk, or startled by a passing vehicle, we can both pull a little on the leash without worrying about it potentially hurting him.
His old harness had served us well for years, but was starting to show some wear and tear, so I thought it was a good opportunity to try something different. While searching, I came across Rocky Mountain Dog, a Canadian business based in Calgary. I liked a few of the features the brand’s Summit All-Terrain Dog Harness had that my old harness didn’t, and decided to hit “Add to Cart”. I didn’t expect to love it so much.
The All-Terrain Summit Harness has many great features, and I can confidently say it’s the best model I’ve ever used. I decided on the orange colour since my dog has fluffy white fur. I love that it’s bold and stands out against his coat. I’m also a fan of the reflective piping. I don’t tend to take him out in the dark, but it’s good to know that there’s a safety feature built in just in case we find ourselves outside at night.
What I love the most is the double buckles. All of the harnesses I’ve had in the past have had a single buckle at the top that joins each half of the harness together, meaning I’d have to put both of my dog’s front paws through myself. The All-Terrain Summit Harness goes over my dog’s head, sits comfortably under his belly, and has a buckle on each side to keep it in place behind his front legs. I found this more secure and like that it allows for a more customized fit.
Speaking of fit, my dog was between the extra small and small size, so I went with the small. It has four points of adjustment, so I was able to tighten the straps to fit him perfectly. I probably could have sized down, but I like that there’s a little extra room for it to fit over his coat in the winter.
All in all, I found All-Terrain Summit Harness to be way more comfortable and secure than the one I had been using. The quality feels great, and it was designed and tested right here in Canada by a company that wants nothing but the best for your pooch. A total win-win in my books.
