This Heated Blanket Is the Reason I’ve Slept So Well All Winter

In the winter, staying warm while you snooze becomes a top priority. There’s nothing better than getting cozy with flannel sheets, a fluffy duvet, and your comfiest pillows when it’s time to go to sleep. Whether you have drafty windows or just like to stay extra-toasty, sometimes a comforter just doesn’t cut it. That’s where a heated blanket comes in handy.

I’ve wanted to try a heated blanket for a while, but the fact that I’m a warm sleeper always stops me from actually ordering one. I didn’t know exactly how hot it would get or if it would be too warm for me to be comfortable. As the winter weather raged on, I got the opportunity to try out the Elle Heated Electric Ribbed Throw. I’ve been testing it since November, and I have not spent a night without it since it arrived at my house.

Let’s get into the details.

Key Specs

  • Colours: Teal, black-and-white checkered, black-and-white herringbone.
  • Heat Levels: Warm, low, medium, and high
  • Safety Features: 4-hour auto shut-off, advanced safety circuit, overheat protection
  • Cleaning: Machine-washable and safe to put in the dryer

My experience using the Elle Heated Electric Ribbed Throw Blanket

As soon as I opened the Elle Heated Electric Ribbed Throw Blanket, I loved how soft and velvety it felt. It’s a little heavier than a regular throw, but it’s not as heavy as a weighted blanket — the perfect in-between. It also has a cooling feel to it, so I was optimistic that I wouldn’t overheat underneath it (as I mentioned, I run hot).

The setup was fairly simple. I plugged the long power cord into the port in the blanket, and it clicked into place, and plugged the other end into the closest outlet to my bed. The silicone remote is built into the blanket on the opposite corner, and it only has one button to turn it on and adjust the heat. Each press of the button increases the temperature level until it shuts off.

I started with the lowest heat setting, and I was surprised at how quickly it warmed up. Within a few minutes, the whole blanket was warm, and I could feel myself warming up with it. I love that it has an auto shut-off so I can get toasty while I take a nap or read a book, and if I accidentally fall asleep, it won’t stay on all night.

I use the lowest two heat settings the most, and find that it feels less like a heating pad and more like you’re sitting in front of a fireplace. I have used the two warmer settings, but I find them to be a bit too hot for me; someone who is often cold would probably love those. I have slept with it every single night since it arrived, usually with it on top of my duvet.

I think the only one who likes the Elle Heated Electric Ribbed Throw Blanket more than I do is my dog, who bolts to my room in the morning to snuggle up on it while I get ready for the day. I typically let him nap on the lowest setting to make sure he doesn’t overheat, though I’m sure he’d tell me he’d like it warmer if he could.

As for cleaning, I’ve even tossed it in the washing machine after disconnecting the power cable, and can confirm it washes like a dream. I even put it in the dryer on a low setting, and it came out smelling fresh and feeling brand new.

The drawbacks of the Elle Heated Electric Ribbed Throw Blanket

Unfortunately, every product has its drawbacks. Luckily, this one only comes with two.My first issue is the limited colour selection. I’m a pink girl, but that’s not an option here. You only have teal, black and white checkered, or black and white herringbone to choose from. The second potential issue is the size. It’s a standard throw size, so it’s fine for one person, but it certainly isn’t big enough to share.

My final thoughts on the Elle Heated Electric Ribbed Throw Blanket

All in all, this is a great option for those who want an affordable and effective heated blanket. The adjustable heat control makes it easy to find your perfect temperature, even though you can’t choose down to the degree, and the soft material is much more comfortable than some of the wool throws in my collection. It’s definitely a winter staple in my household.

Elle Heated Electric Ribbed Throw Blanket Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Adjustable heat controls
  • Made of a soft material
  • The long power cord allows me to plug it in, and it easily reaches my bed
  • Great safety features
  • Easy to clean

Elle Heated Electric Ribbed Throw Blanket Cons:

  • Limited colour and pattern selection
  • Temperatures are preset, so you can’t choose an exact digit
