Ride into the future of commuting and recreation with a top-rated electric bike. We’ve reviewed the best e-bikes in Canada from leading brands like Rad Power Bikes, Heybike, and Gotrax.
Biking is a great way to exercise, right? It’s much faster than walking, it’s pretty easy to do, and you get to enjoy the wind on your face. Win, win, win. Right? But what if you want to tackle mountain terrain? Or you’re exceptionally low on energy? Or you just don’t have the leg strength or cardiac endurance to go the distances you want to go? Believe it or not, there’s a solution to all of these problems.
What is that solution? An electric bike, of course! That’s right, you can get bikes powered by electricity to help you cruise around your city (or a mountain trail!) without as much physical effort on your part. Not only can you bike faster with one of these things, but they’re also a lot sturdier and can handle trickier terrain types.
Does an electric bike sound like an amazing idea? We sure think so. And we’d love to help you pick one. Of course, they aren’t all made equal, and we’re guessing you’re not interested in buying any old electric bike. To find your perfect match, we strongly encourage you to think about all of its features. That includes the price, the speeds, the adjustability of the seat and handlebars, and more!
This comprehensive guide will investigate the best electric bikes in Canada right now and outline the criteria you should consider while making your purchase decision. Let’s dive right into our top five products.

Rize City Urban Commuter Ebike Review
What We Think of the Rize City Urban Commuter Ebike
The Rize City Urban Commuter Ebike is incredibly well-rounded. With a top speed of 32 km/hr (unlockable to 40 km/h), you’ll be able to cruise around your city in no time at all. A well-padded seat and high-class front suspension guarantee your comfort during your travels, too. The step-through frame is another favourite of ours—it’ll only take seconds to get on and off the bike, and you won’t become a hazard to people around you with a swinging leg.
We’re also really happy with the lighting system on this electric bike. Two LED lights on the back function as your taillight and brake light, and the front headlight illuminates up to 5km ahead of you! Night riding will be a safe activity with this bike. You’ll also get to enjoy customizable settings—you can set your own speed limit and pedal assist range, adjust the motor response, and even select a lock. We love that for you.
Luckily, we don’t have any major problems to mention with this one. You might find the bike a bit small if you’re taller than 6’2”, however. Similarly, it might be too cumbersome if you’re shorter than 5’2”. Otherwise, the only potential issue is the price tag—this electric bike is quite expensive, so it won’t work with every budget.
All in all, the Rize City Urban Commuter Ebike is an easy one to fall for. Whether you need an extra-fast bike to cut your daily commute down, or you want to cruise the neighbourhood with your family, this electric bike is the perfect companion.

Our All-Road Pick
Gotrax EBE3 27.5″ Electric Bike Review
What We Think of the Gotrax EBE3 27.5″ Electric Bike
The Gotrax EBE3 27.5″ Electric Bike is a pretty solid choice if you’re looking to explore your town. It’s great for cruising around on city streets, it can handle rougher trails, and it’s reliable in slushy conditions, too. It’s a true all-rounder.
This bike is more than capable of climbing steep hills with little effort on your part, and its lightweight design helps it fly on smooth pavement, cutting down your commuting time. A lockable suspension keeps your ride smooth on uneven terrain, too. Throw in a great display, and there’s really not much missing.
We do have a few low points to share with you too. Although the height range of 5’4” to 6’2” is already limiting, it’s not even accurate. People under 5’6” are still not a good fit for this bike. That’s not ideal, we agree. The seat also isn’t the most comfortable thing for longer rides, so that’s something to keep in mind. And so is the long-term durability, with some concerns about the quality of the spokes.
- Performance: 5/5
- Usability: 4/5
- Price: 5/5
- Quality: 3.5/5
What Reviewers Are Saying About the Gotrax EBE3 27.5″ Electric Bike
Reviewers have mostly good things to say about the Gotrax EBE3 27.5″ Electric Bike. The tires aren’t as puncture-resistant as they’d like. But otherwise, it’s all good things from them—it powers up hills really quickly, the display is easy to read, and the speeds help them adapt to every riding environment.

Our Foldable Pick
Vitilan V3 2.0 Electric Bike Review
What We Think of the Vitilan V3 2.0 Electric Bike
The Vitilan V3 2.0 Electric Bike has a lot working in your favour. Of course, its most compelling feature is the folding frame. This bike can be folded in half, making it much easier to store at work, pack in the car, or ride the subway with. It’s also one of the fastest electric bikes out there with a top speed of 45 km/h, so it’s perfect if you like to get your adrenaline going.
We’re also really pleased with the tire design. The thick, rugged tires allow you to ride on rough terrain and through snow just as easily (and comfortably) as bare pavement. You’ll also love the USB charger—you can charge your phone while you cycle!
There are a few reasons why this electric bike may not be the perfect match for you. It isn’t designed to be ridden by people under 5’3”, so if you’re short, this bike might literally not be a good fit. It also lacks a step-through frame, so if you don’t have great mobility, you may want to consider an electric bike that doesn’t require a leg swing for mounting and dismounting.
All in all, the Vitilan V3 2.0 Electric Bike has a lot to offer, no matter what type of riding you intend to do. It provides rugged tires for off-roading, a high top speed for quick errands, and a folding design for travel. Doesn’t it sound perfect?

Our Fat Bike Pick
Hiboy P6 Electric Bike Review
What We Think of the Hiboy P6 Electric Bike
The Hiboy P6 Electric Bike is pretty impressive, and we’re about to tell you why. Its fat tires make this bike a dream to ride on every surface—whether it’s pavement, gravel, or snow, you’ll be safe and secure. The motor also provides a ton of climbing power, so you can truly ride anywhere with this bike. Doesn’t that freedom sound amazing?
The battery life is also something to admire. For every charge (which only takes 4-6 hours), you can cycle for 100 km. There’s no stopping you! Unless you want to stop, that is. The dual-brake system is incredibly smooth and effective, so you can stop your bike easily, even from top speed. The battery has a ton of protections in place, too, so the most safety-conscious individuals can feel confident riding this electric bike.
There are a few things we’d improve for you if we could, however. The weight capacity of this electric bike is only 265 lbs, so if you’re a heavier cyclist, there are better bikes out there for you. The seat and handlebars are also fairly limited in adjustability, so it won’t be a great fit for shorter riders either. The high middle bar might also be a challenge if your mobility isn’t great.
All in all, the Hiboy P6 Electric Bike is our top choice for folks who love to hit the trails or ride in the winter. Thick, puncture-proof tires keep you safe on all surfaces, and it’s got the range for long rides. If you’re looking for freedom while you cycle, this is the electric bike for you.

VeFreedom CityRang 4.0 Electric Bike Review
What We Think of the VeFreedom CityRang 4.0 Electric Bike
The VeFreedom CityRang 4.0 Electric Bike is one of our favourites of all time. One of the reasons for that is its power. With a battery range of 112 km and a max speed of 48 km/h, you have tons of freedom to explore and stay safe no matter where you go. The fat 4” tires help with that, too. They’ll easily traverse snow, gravel, uneven pavement, and forest trails.
This electric bike is also unique in that it can carry a second person! There’s a platform at the back of the bike that doubles as a seat, and it can also hold a rear basket for hauling gear. How’s that for a 2-in-1! The step-through frame is another major selling point. Instead of awkwardly swinging your leg over the bike to mount and dismount, you just step through and sit.
The one thing we’d change about this electric bike, if we could, is the fact that you have to buy a rear basket separately. We appreciate that it can carry one and has a seat for a second rider, but you really shouldn’t have to buy an extra accessory.
Overall, the VeFreedom CityRang 4.0 Electric Bike is the best companion for people who love to explore the trails, run errands with their bike, and cycle with a buddy. Considering the incredible price tag, there’s really nothing to dislike about this bike, and everything to love.
- Performance: 5/5
- Usability: 5/5
- Price: 5/5
- Quality: 5/5

They love that there is space for a person to sit at the back and that they can attach a rear basket for gear (although they’d prefer the basket were included). They’re impressed by the top speed and its ability to handle every type of terrain with ease. They have no complaints.

How to Properly Choose Your Electric Bike
Price
Electric bikes can cost anywhere from $500 to more than $2,000. In general, more expensive bikes will have a more durable frame, higher-quality wheels, and a more versatile motor and suspension.
Number of Speeds
Electric bikes can come with a wide range of speed options. The low end is usually seven speeds, but more sophisticated bikes can have as many as 21. Most people don’t need that many, but they’re nice to have.
Weight Capacity
The weight capacity of an electric bike is really important to pay attention to. Not only does it provide a safety caution, but it will also tell you how durable the bike is overall. Keep in mind that it includes any cargo (or children) you’re riding around with.
Pedal Assist Modes
Every electric bike will have a few different options for pedal assist levels. Most will have three riding modes, but some can have more than five. A few select models will even have a walking mode to help you propel the bike along from the ground.
