I Started Wearing Loop Earplugs To Concerts, And I’ll Never Go Back

I spent my teens and most of my twenties listening to music too loud in my headphones and going to way too many concerts without proper hearing protection. Once I entered my thirties, I started taking hearing health more seriously, and while I can’t reverse the damage that I have already done, I can preserve what I currently have.

My main line of defence is earplugs, and my Goldilocks pair is the Loop Experience 2 Earplugs. They’ve been coming with me to live events ever since they arrived at my door.

My experience using Loop Experience 2 Earplugs

I don’t know if it’s just me, but since 2020 I have found the crowds at concerts to be much louder. So, after going to a few concerts post-restrictions, I knew I had to do something to help keep my ears protected while also allowing me to enjoy the show.

I looked at a couple of options, but I’m particular. I wanted a pair that didn’t look like bulky, foamy earplugs you get from the drugstore. After all, I’m getting all dressed up for a concert, and I don’t want my earplugs to ruin the vibe. Enter: the Loop Experience 2 Earplugs.

These earplugs filter 12dB of noise, which allows you to still enjoy live music at a safe level without the damage. When I pop them in, the sound of the crowd lowers significantly. I can’t hear people screaming and singing behind me, but I can still hear the band on stage perfectly (exactly what I want!).

Popping them in gives me such peace of mind that I’m protecting my hearing, too. They are very comfortable to wear for hours. You can’t even really feel them at all. As an added bonus, my ears don’t ring for hours after the concert is over.

Something I have discovered when wearing them is that they amplify your own voice while you wear them, so if you’re singing along at a concert, you will be able to hear your voice almost as clearly as the person singing on stage. Being that aware of my voice does give me a little bit of an ick, but the benefits they provide me with far outweigh the brief moment I could hear myself singing.

Since they sit inside your ears, I find them super secure; they don’t move at all when I’m dancing or jumping around. Each set comes with four sizes of silicone tips, helping ensure the perfect fit (I have the small ones on mine).

Aside from the hearing protection they offer, the thing I liked the most about Loop Experience 2 Earplugs is that they look like jewellery. They come in a great range of colours, including fun metallics that really help give the illusion that they’re a piercing.

They also come with a little hardshell carrying case, so you can chuck ‘em in your purse or pocket. I use the little loop on mine to connect them to my keychain, which I always have on me.

Priced around $50, they aren’t as inexpensive as disposable earplugs, but they are reusable and give you the confidence that your ears actually are being protected in live event environments. I have had mine for about three years, and I don’t go to a concert without them. In fact, I love them so much, I even got a pair of their Loop Quiet 2 Earplugs to wear for sleep when I’m travelling.

Are the Loop Experience 2 Earplugs worth the hype?

In my opinion, yes! The Loop Experience 2 Earplugs do exactly what they promise; they effectively reduce the noise around you at loud events, allowing you to hear the main act and focus on what’s going on. I love that they double as jewellery and consider them a must-have for anyone who frequents noisy environments or loud events.
