This Colour Corrector From A Canadian Brand Is My Secret Weapon For A Flawless Makeup Base

I am now firmly in my thirties, and my beauty routine has changed quite a bit over the last decade. While I’m pretty happy with my current product rotation, I’ve recently embarked on a colour correction journey.

If you’re new to the world of colour correcting, let me give you a brief rundown. It relies on colour theory, neutralizing or cancelling out redness or dark spots on your skin with opposing shades.

While I’ve found that this green colour corrector is great for days when my skin is a little more flushed than usual, I still needed something to mask those pesky dark circles under my eyes that appear after a sleepless night. I remembered that orange tones cancel out dark spots, which can appear blue on the skin, so I knew I would need to find something in the peach-orange family.

When Canadian skincare and makeup brand Vasanti Cosmetics released their new shade range of Colour Correcting Concealer, I knew I had to give it a go. I’m so pleased with the results.

My experience using the Vasanti Colour Correcting Concealer

I’m no stranger to Vasanti. I love that the brand uses high-quality formulations and that it infuses many of its makeup products with skin-loving ingredients for impactful, lasting results. That’s why I was so excited when it dropped the Colour Correcting Concealer in new shades (there are now three!).

I go between light and medium shades of concealer, so after swatching the V01 and V02 shades on myself, I determined that the lightest (V01) would work best to conceal darkness and brighten up my under-eye area.

Now, let’s get into the testing.

I like to let my concealer sit for about a minute to dry down before buffing it in, so that’s what I did, and it blended like a dream. I love that instead of a squeeze tube, the top screws off to reveal a mini brush applicator, which made putting it on precisely so easy. After blending, I let it dry down a little more to set before layering my regular concealer over top. I set it as usual and marvelled at how well it cancelled out my dark circles and spots with barely any work or product. I also noticed that it brightened my under-eye area, leaving me looking a little more awake. It lasted all day without getting patchy or creasing.

One thing to note: since this concealer is super pigmented, it’s easy to overapply. If you use too much, it looks patchy under concealer and can get cakey pretty fast. It took a little bit of trial and error the first few times I used it to learn what worked best for me and my skin.

After using it for a while, I can confirm that the results are consistent. There is some slight variation when the temperature rises, so on really hot days, I like to set the colour corrector with a loose translucent powder before topping it with my concealer to make sure it doesn’t budge. I’ve even experimented with the darker shades to cover up some of my tattoos, and although it does take a few layers, it works!

Overall, I really like the Vasanti Colour Correcting Concealer. Though it’s not a product I reach for every single time I put makeup on, it definitely comes in super handy on days I do need a little extra help covering up dark circles and spots.

My final thoughts on the Vasanti Colour Correcting Concealer

I would recommend the Vasanti Colour Correcting Concealer to anyone who struggles with dullness, dark circles, or hyperpigmentation. I love that it’s pigmented, easy to blend, and filled with ingredients that are actually good for my skin. I also like how it wears throughout the day and moves with my skin instead of settling in the creases (this makes it a great option for mature skin, too). I’ll be keeping it in my routine!

Vasanti V01 Colour Correcting Concealer Pros:

  • Brightens, conceals, and colour corrects
  • Precise applicator
  • A little goes a long way
  • Can easily be layered with other complexion products

Vasanti V01 Colour Correcting Concealer Cons:

  • More expensive than your average drugstore concealer
  • Takes trial and error to find your shade match and the ideal amount of product

What Reviewers Are Saying About Vasanti V01 Colour Correcting Concealer

The Vasanti Colour Correcting Concealer has an average rating of 4.5 stars, with over 1,400 reviews on the Vasanti Cosmetics site. Reviewers of all ages love that it doesn’t irritate their skin and rave about how it doesn’t dry out throughout the day, keeping its silky-smooth texture until they wash it off.
