I Tried Medicube’s Viral Overnight Peel-Off Face Mask, And Here Are My Thoughts

Korean skincare is more than a trend. Its emphasis on gentle formulations, hydration, and efficacy, combined with affordability and customizability make it easy to adopt, adapt, and stick to.

I have incorporated a decent amount of Korean skincare products into my morning routine, my favourite being Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner. But — until now — Korean skincare hadn’t really made its way into my nighttime regimen.

As I am constantly on a quest to find new and innovative skincare products, my TikTok and Instagram algorithms know exactly what to serve me. My interest piqued when the same product kept popping up on social media: the Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask. It’s a peel-off face mask, used overnight. I saw it was available on Amazon Canada, and pressed “Add to Cart” immediately.

Let’s get into the details.

My experience using the Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask

When the Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask arrived at my door, my skin was parched and ready for some TLC. I went through my regular nighttime skincare routine, then, following the advice of TikTok beauty experts, I used a silicone skincare spatula to spread a thin layer over my entire face — the formula is thick, clear, unscented, and distributes easily. Another tip I got from creators is that you need a decently thick layer to ensure that it is peelable come morning. More product = more satisfying results.

I was concerned it would still be a bit sticky or wipe onto my pillow as soon as I hit my bed, but I’m happy to report that was not the case. Once applied, it took around 20 minutes to dry down completely.

I have tried plenty of peeling face masks in the past, but this one stood out from its competitors. Frankly, the sensation is a bit strange. While I couldn’t really feel it on my forehead, cheeks, or chin, the mask loosened around areas of my face that moved a lot, like my upper lip. If you’re ticklish or easily irritated, this might not be your favourite feeling. In fact, I had to take it off around 3 a.m. because I kept waking up from it tickling my face. The second time I used it, I avoided my upper lip and was able to make it through the night without taking it off.

What really makes this mask fun is the peel. With thick, even application, you should be able to pull it off in one or two pieces, with zero mess left behind, and this rang true for me.

Once removed, I could get a closer look at my skin, and boy, was it ever glowy. It felt amazing, too. Collagen and niacinamide are doing the heavy lifting, bringing back moisture, bounce, and radiance — plus I get all the benefits of the skincare applied underneath. I really could see an immediate improvement in texture after the first use.

The drawbacks of the Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask

In my opinion, the Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask is nearly flawless. It only has two drawbacks, and they are minor.

Firstly, you have to use a healthy squeeze of product in order for it to actually peel off, and the tube it comes in isn’t that big. I estimate that you get anywhere from five to eight applications per tube. Considering each tube costs around $32, you have to be willing to shell out to repurchase it quite frequently or use the product more sparingly to keep skincare costs reasonable (I opt for the latter).

Secondly, it takes some time to get used to, especially if you’re sensitive or don’t enjoy the feeling of products on your skin while you sleep. This comes with the territory of overnight masks, so it’s not necessarily a flaw, just something to be aware of before committing.

My final thoughts on the Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask

The Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask has been a great addition to my nighttime skincare routine. I like that it creates a barrier for my skin, allowing products to absorb while I sleep without making a mess. I find it a little expensive, especially considering the amount of product you get and how much you have to use, but since I don’t use it every single night, I don’t mind as much. It’s perfect to use before a major event or when my skin needs some extra love.

Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask Pros:

  • Creates a barrier for your skincare to absorb into your skin
  • Leaves skin feeling soft, bouncy, and more hydrated
  • Completely dries down and doesn’t transfer onto your pillow
  • Peels off easily, and without mess

Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask Cons:

  • A decent amount of product is required to get a satisfying peel
  • Can take a night or two to adjust to sleeping in if you’re sensitive or ticklish

What reviewers are saying about the Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask

The Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask has an average rating of 4.4 stars. Many reviewers report that their skin feels more bouncy and hydrated in the morning after peeling it off, and most saw a difference in their skin texture after the first use. The one issue that crops up is how much product is required to get a decent peel — some say it takes trial and error to get the right amount, and that it can feel wasteful because you need to use more than you’d expect.
