I Tried A Heated Round Brush, And It’s The Ultimate Hack To Refresh Second-Day Hair

After years of having short hair, my mane is finally long again, so I’ve been having a blast trying different styling options. My favourite is a blowout, but it tends to fall flat after I sleep on it, requiring a re-style the following day. Since I don’t want to do a full, comprehensive blow-dry routine daily, I went looking for other options and discovered the K&K Thermal Heated Round Brush.

Here are my thoughts.

My experience using the K&K Thermal Heated Round Brush

The K&K Thermal Heated Round Brush comes in three different barrel sizes, ranging from 1.25 to 1.77 inches. Since I have longer hair and was looking for a smooth, blowout-style wave, I opted for the largest model.

I’ve developed a pretty solid routine with it over the past few weeks, and it’s become second-nature to me. I always spritz my hair with my Marc Anthony Grow Long Anti-Frizz Shield and give it a quick blow dry before putting the thermal brush to work. Since it’s not a blow dryer, applying heat directly to damp hair would be more damaging, so I’m pretty thorough.

Using it is easy as ever; you plug it in, adjust the temperature to your liking (I like to stay around 350°F, and it heats up in under two minutes), then go about using it like your average round brush.

I like to split my hair into 2-inch sections, starting from the bottom and maneuvering through each layer until I reach the top. I also add tension at my roots to give them a little boost of volume. This whole routine takes me less than 10 minutes.

Word to the wise: sectioning matters with this brush. If I take a section that’s slightly too big, I find that a strand of hair or two can get stuck in the area between the barrel and the handle. This is a bit uncomfortable and not ideal, so just be mindful when styling.

After letting my hair cool down, I usually brush it with a wide-tooth comb, which gives it a fluffy vintage blowout look. I also like to mist it with a bit of Kenra Professional Volume Spray 25 to add hold. Each style I’ve tried looks good for hours, and the results last in my hair as long as a regular blowout, so I get about the same payoff, even on slightly dirty hair.

Is the K&K Thermal Heated Round Brush worth it?

The K&K Thermal Heated Round Brush has become my go-to styling tool for reviving second-day hair, and I use it multiple times a week. I think this is a great tool to have on hand for people with straight and curly hair, and since it’s dual voltage, it would even be great to bring on vacation instead of a blow dryer and an iron. I’ve tried thermal brushes that cost double the price, and they don’t perform as well, so it’s a winner in my eyes.
