I’m going to be real with you, nobody loves lip products as much as I do. I have a drawer full of balms, glosses, tints, stains, and lipsticks. I am always looking for my new favourite balm, especially now that it’s winter and super dry out.
My current favourite is the rhode Peptide Lip Tint. It moisturizes my lips, and the tint looks just as good worn on its own as it does with a full face of makeup. The only problem is that I find the $30 price tag a little steep for a lip balm, so I wanted to find something that would give me the same results while being a little easier on my wallet.
I had heard good things about Naturium’s Phyto-Glow Lip Balm online, and when I saw it was finally available on Amazon Canada for under $15 a tube, I knew I had to give it a try.
Let’s get into the details.

My Experience Using The Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm
When I first took the tube of Naturium’s Phyto-Glow Lip Balm out of the box, it was a little smaller than I was expecting, but it does have the same amount of product as the rhode lip peptide glaze, and for half the price, that was already a win for me. To give it a fair shot, I ordered it in Jam (a deep plum, and the closest match to my rhode balm in PB&J) and a tube in Camellia, a light pink shade, since I didn’t have a tinted balm in that colour yet.

I immediately noticed that this balm is THICK, way thicker than any other lip balm/butter I’ve used in the last few years, but once it’s on your lips, it doesn’t feel heavy or overly sticky. I like that a little goes a long way, and it’s tinted a perfect amount to give the lips a little colour without looking like lipstick. It also gets major points for me for being very lightly scented, as sometimes additional fragrance in skincare products can act as drying agents (and give me a headache).
To give it a fair shot, it became the only lip balm/gloss I allowed myself to use for a week, but after a few days, it naturally became my go-to lip product, whether I was just sitting at my desk or attending a holiday party. I loved that it actually stayed put on my lips for hours, even through nibbling on appetizers and sipping on spritzes. It’s a balm, so of course it needed to be reapplied, but not nearly as much as I was used to.

Aesthetics aside, I found that Naturium’s Phyto-Glow Lip Balm really did moisturize my lips. When I had chapped lips, the patches would flake off, and I could wipe them away in minutes, reapply a thin layer, and rock a smooth pout all day or night. The combination of plant-, earth-, and ocean-based ingredients — including plant-derived lanolin — packs a hydrating punch that lasts.
Speaking of ingredients, eveyrthing in the Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm is biocompatible and designed to work with the skin’s natural process. The formula is high-quality, gentle, and totally safe for those with sensitive skin — bonus!

The lid and applicator are also worth calling attention to. I like that the lid screws on and feels secure, so I don’t have to worry about it leaking in my bag. The applicator is also different from any other lip product I’ve ever used before. It’s slightly larger to cover more surface area, so you don’t have to keep squeezing product out to cover your pout.
The Drawbacks Of The Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm
The Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm is as close to perfect as you can get when it comes to price and performance. But remember when I mentioned the balm was super thick? I found that I had to squeeze hard to get the product out of the applicator, to the point that I was worried about popping it. After the first few applications, it got a little easier, but if that’s the price I have to pay to keep the integrity of the ingredients, I’m ok with it. I found that warming it up in my palms or keeping it in a pocket for a few minutes makes it a little easier.
My Final Thoughts on The Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm
After extensive testing over the past few weeks, the Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm is my new go-to. I like that it moisturizes my lips and gives them a hint of colour without feeling too sticky or heavy. The affordable price means that I can get two shades for the cost of one lip treatment from a luxury brand, and even though I already have two, I already have my eye on a few more shades.

Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm Pros
- More affordable than comparables on the luxury market
- Comes in a variety of shades
- Delivers long-lasting moisture
Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm Cons
- It may be too thick or sticky for some people
- A little hard to get out of the applicator, especially when cold
What Reviewers Are Saying About Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm
Like me, reviewers are loving the Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm, giving it an average rating of 4.1 stars. They like that it actually moisturizes their lips and say that, though the thickness might not be for everyone, it’s what helps it stay on for hours. Reviewers also love the shade range and that it gives them the look of a lipstick without the commitment to reapplying. Some mention that it is a little hard to squeeze from the tube, especially when it’s cold out. Not a dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind when you’re reapplying on the go.
