I have fine, straight hair, but I have a lot of it. No, I’m not complaining; that’s a blessing in my books, but it does take its sweet time drying. Now, I must admit, it took me a second to actually try the Everist Quick Dry Hair Towel out. It sat in my office gathering dust for a few weeks because, as I said, I’ve never had a hair towel knock my socks off. But one day, I guess I was feeling experimental. That, or I didn’t have an extra towel to spare, so I took the plunge. (The “plunge” being putting my hair up in the towel, not exactly a revolutionary move.) ANYHOW, I was immediately impressed. And my hair? Dried quicker than ever. And that, dear friends, is why you need it on your radar (and in your cart immediately).
Let’s dive into the nitty-gritty.
All of the models I’d tried in the past were sort of hood-shaped, with a button on the back. I guess I never flagged this as an issue, or just assumed it was universal, but they were all pretty small, and as someone with hair that reaches almost all the way down my back, that’s a big issue. Wrapping it became somewhat of a chore, and I found the button cumbersome. Not deal-breaking, just a little irritating. So, you can probably see why I wasn’t exactly chomping at the bit to try a new one.
By contrast, when I unwrapped the Everist towel, I realized it wasn’t a hood, but rather a 26-by-40-inch rectangle made of the softest waffle-weave microfibre I ever did feel. This gave me way more confidence when wrapping up my long hair, and impressively, it actually fits all of it, with room to spare, too.
The closure, another thing that seemed like a non-issue, is way better on Everist’s, too. Instead of a button, it’s a fairly sizable elastic that easily fits around the large wad of fabric you’re working with, sans uncomfortable manoeuvring. I can do it without a mirror, without help from my partner, and without any acrobatics. Very important when I’m sopping wet and a little bit testy.
As for efficacy, it really does do the trick. The brand promises 50x faster drying, and I really am seeing a difference. It also claims to help reduce breakage and frizz, and I think it does that, too. I never find my hair difficult to release, and when I brush it out with my wet-hair-approved brush, it doesn’t snag, pull, or break.
The only real drawback with this towel is that it’s pretty pricey. You can find similar ones on Amazon for much cheaper, but as I said, efficacy may be questionable with those. It is significantly less expensive than the oh-so-viral Crown Affair hair towel that’s been trending on social media, about half the price, actually. So, depending on how you look at it, you might actually be saving money.
